July Updates

Every once in while I will be posting updates. This is to give you heads up on things I will be changing, adding, or just information I think you might like to know. Okay now to the updates.

Practice Makes Perfect
These first five reviews have been practice for me. I have changed setup due to what things I think need to be reviewed or if something catches my attention. So don't freak out if one review contains something another review doesn't.

I noticed the amount of detail I put in the storyline sections on SH 1-4. Starting with SH 5, I'm just going to give the bare bones on the story. Too much reading and most people start to mentally wander!

Why Silent Hill?
I chose the Silent Hill series because I was just finishing watching SH 2 when I started this blog. I won't always do a series back to back. My curiosity on the series got to me. LOL

Upcoming Reviews
As of right now, I am unsure what I am going to review next. It will not be a horror. Nothing wrong with them; I just want to do a variety.

Can I Make A Request?
My main objective of this blog is to entertain readers as much as myself. If you have a request for a review, I am not going to say no.

If you have a request, you may post it below or at my youtube profile. I ask for only the title of the game, the publisher, and the category (if you know it).

Please do NOT tell me about the game. If it is a game I have never played or seen played, then telling me about it will spoil it.

Silent Hill: The Homecoming

Category: Horror/Survival
Publisher: Konami
LPer: Helloween4545
My Game Rating: 3.2

This is the final trip through Silent Hill. While it is a good game, it just seems Konami is hitting a wall. It happens. We just have to sit back and wait.

Story:
Alex Shepherd returns home to find his hometown a ghost town, his little brother and dad missing, and his mom looking like death warmed over. He searches first Shepherd's Glen and then Silent Hill to find the answers, some of which he had buried deep in his mind.

The founding families of Shepherd's Glen left Silent Hill originally. To keep their town safe, they made a pact to sacrifice one of each of their children every generation. Alex was supposed to be the one for his family. However, one night on the lake, he accidentally caused his younger brother's death. It sent him into a breakdown and he was sent to a mental hospital.

In the end, he kills the bad guy and saves his brother's soul and his girl, Elle.

Atmosphere:
Both Shepherd's Glen and Silent Hill have the same atmosphere. The only thing that sets them aside is you find people in Shepherd's Glen and monsters in Silent Hill.

Interiors can be very dark, even with a flashlight. Nightmare world has an improved rusty metal and bloody look.

Konami improved upon the transaction between normal and nightmare worlds. This time you SEE it transform.

Background Music and Sound:
The score is pretty good. The background sounds match, unlike the previous trip.

New Features or Upgrades:
Going with that more realistic approach, you can only carry so many bullets. If you find you can't carry anymore bullets, simply make sure all your guns are fully loaded then see if you can pick them up.

You can turn items 360 degrees and see all sides of it.

You pick what Alex will say to someone or how he reacts to someone. Best example would be with Alex's mom. You can shoot her and put her outta her misery OR you can let her suffer. Of course your choices in some places affect your ending.

The game features many QTEs or Quick Time Events.

Pathways and Puzzles:
The pathway system still has locked or jammed doors.

However there are a few new additions to finding a way around:

1-use your knife on special wall sections to cut a hole
2- squeeze through existing holes in walls,
3-jump down to a lower section then back up to where you previously were
4-jump over fences
5-duck under items blocking a path
6-break windows then hop through them

Puzzles still follow Silent Hill logic yet they seem more reality grounded. The first puzzle in game is to find the code to unlock the door. You have to find the second piece of the x-ray and put it together on the board to get the full code.

Protagonist:
Alex is an intriguing character. His worry about his missing brother and his mounting horror over what he learns about the town makes him seem very authentic as a human.

He ranks second in my favorite Silent Hill characters.

Other Characters:
There are tons of characters but I am only listing those I think are worth mentioning.

Judge Holloway
She is Elle's mom. She killed her younger daughter, Nora, by strangulation as per the pact made by the founders.

Elle Holloway
She is a childhood friend of Alex's. She has no idea why everyone is going missing in town. Alex runs in to her the first time as she is posting missing people posters.

Joshua Shepherd
Josh is Alex's younger brother. Alex's main objective throughout the game is to find his missing brother. Joshua died prior to the game when him and Alex took a boat out onto the lake.

Lillian Shepherd
Off the deep end. Best description of her. She also favors Josh over Alex. The way she dies (if she suffers or not) is determined by you.

Adam Shepherd
Throughout the game, we see flashbacks. Adam seems very harsh and negative towards Alex.

Deputy Wheeler
A very interesting and smart man. He's very paranoid about what is going on but still open-minded enough to believe Alex's story.

Helloween4545's Contribution:
Shocked that the LP is from someone else? Well Vega hasn't done this one. Plus I wanted someone knew. I had heard of him from watching one of Katrinonus's videos and, just my luck, he had done this game.

He is British, so he brings that wonderful style of humor and that awesome accent (I have a thing for accents). Who doesn't love it when he says McStabby?

I really love how he also talks to Alex as if he is a real person. I don't know about anyone else but I have tendency to do it too!

Silent Hill 4:The Room

Category: Horror/Survival
Publisher: Konami
Video Channel: baruttv
My Game Rating: 2.5

My fourth trip to Silent Hill. It was not supposed to be part of the Silent Hill series. It really shouldn't have been. It lacks many of the typical Silent Hill trademarks. The only reason it got the name Silent Hill was because the villain was mentioned in Silent Hill 2.

This time I am doing my review different. I am going to be watching a walkthrough instead of a LP.

The Story:

Harry Townshend lives in room 302 in South Ashfield Heights apartment building. Five days ago, he started having a recurring nightmare. He also hasn't been able to leave his apartment. His windows are sealed shut, his door has been chained from the inside, and his phone won't work. He wonders if he is going insane.

During the first part of the game, Henry goes into the hole and visits four different location: subway, forest and orphanage, water prison, and an alternate verion of his apartment building. In each location he meets someone new (Cynthia, Jasper, Andrew, and Richard) and learns more about Walter Sullivan and what has been going on. Before he leaves each world, he finds the people he meets murdered.

On the second trip to the alternate apartments, it is Eileen, his next-door neighbor, who becomes Walter's next victim. However, thanks to a mysterious little boy, she survives. However, Henry has to find a way to keep her alive.

During the second part of the game, everything becomes more intense. In your apartment, you have hauntings to deal with. In the other world through the hole, you have to revisit the locations and kill the ghosts of the people. While keeping Eileen alive. While trying to find a way to stop Walter.

You also have to watch out for adult Walter Sullivan, who will chase you in parts of these places.

They eventually end up in Room 302 of the past. There they encounter the ghost of Joseph, who gives him even more information on Walter and his intentions.

Going back to his apartment with the axe of hope, Henry busts the wall to find a body that looks like Walter tangled into a pipe. He gets a key that unlocks all the locks on his door...to find his apartment building has been affected by the evil.

As they explore the apartment building, they learn more about Walter, then Eileen gets possessed.Henry finds Walter's true location through the hole he made. He is just in time to stop Eileen from playing in a pool of blood, defeat Walter, and escape with Eileen.

At the game's end, we see Henry limping outside in the fresh air. Then, the next day, he is bringing flowers to Eileen in her hospital room.

Atmosphere:

This does not take place in Silent Hill first off. The closest we get to Silent Hill is a forest and orphanage outside the town.

The appearance of places in this game have low lighting and a run-down look. There are a few extra things:

The forest has a thick fog and darkness in places.

The inside of the prison has a damp appearance; outside has some thin fog.

The alternate version has some walls that have a red bubble look (guess it is supposed to look like bubbling blood?).

New Features:

You can look through windows and peep holes to see what is going on outside the apartment. Gives you that isolated feel.

Health drinks are now called Nutrition Drinks. Geez, even the video game industry is getting on the Healthier-You bandwagon.

Your main enemy is ghosts. They take forever to kill. They constantly drain your health. In the second part of the game, they start showing up at the apartment, screwing up the awesome decor,if you don't use the candles.

There is a box in Henry's apartment where you can store things. Awesome idea because he finds ALOT of items and who in their right mind would want to lug it all around?

Eileen can defend herself...sorta. Step up from previous followers like Maria and Ashley from Resident Evil 4. However, if she has a weapon and you want to run past monsters, she isn't smart enough to keep going...she will in fact stay and fight.

No flashlight or radio this time.

Background Music and Sounds:

The background music is a little eerie but pretty much generic. The songs are far and in between but they are beautifully done.

The sound effects in spots sound off and/or just plain weird.
Examples:
1-The dogs sound like a big cat growling when they die.
2-Henry's footsteps sound squishy instead of like regular footsteps in places where there should be no squish.
3-The enemies in the hospital make burping sounds when you hit them.
4-The apartment building section after Richard falls from the sky just doesn't match Silent Hill.

The breathing sounds you hear when Henry finds the peephole in his wall is interesting touch.

Protagonist:

Henry Townshend, personality-wise, seems really bland. He shows very little reaction to everything going on around him.

Visually, he's good looking.

His voice actor did a sad job too. He spoke in monotone for most of the game.

Other Characters:

Cynthia Velasquez
She is hanging out in the subways. She thinks that they are in her dream. She comes onto Henry, promising a "special" treat if he helps her out of the subway.

She is murdered in the turnpike in the subways.

Eileen Galvin
Eileen is Henry's neighbor. He spies on her at times through the peephole in his wall through the first part of the game. Around the middle of the game, she becomes a victim but doesn't die like the previous victims, thanks to boy Walter.

Henry finds her in the hospital and soon she follows him to stay alive. She survives the game, thanks to Henry.

Jasper Cein
He is sitting outside the orphanage. He stutters about a rock that ancients used to communicate with the dead that a cult is interested in. He follows Henry into the orphanage.

He burns himself to death in the orphanage.

Andrew DeSalvo
He is locked up in the water prison. He worked at the orphanage where Henry previously visited. He tells Henry who the mysterious little boy.

His murdered body is found in some water.

Richard Braintree
One of Henry's neighbors. He falls out of the sky and into an alleyway. He tells Henry about the previous tenant in Room 302.

He is electrocuted in a chair.

Joseph Schreiber
Joseph was the tenant before Henry. He leaves numerous notes for Henry to find, to help him on his journey to stop Walter. Henry and Eileen encounter his ghost in Room 302 in the past, who arms them with even more knowledge.

Walter Sullivan
10 years before this game takes place, Walter Sullivan went on a killing spree. His trademark was numbers carved in his victim's body. He was caught but he killed himself in his jail cell.

However, that didn't stop him. Seven years before the game, he killed more people. Now, in this game, he is back for more.

He shows up as two different people in the game: the mysterious little boy and the man in the coat. The little boy is looking for his parents. The man is trying to complete the 21 Sacraments.

Special Things to Note or See:

You have to keep Eileen alive or it is game over. Also you have to backtrack sometimes to find her because she seems a little slow and easy to lose.

During the chases with Walter, a few things can happen. He can suddenly run the opposite direction (are you supposed to chase him? o.O), raise his weapon but not fire, or take forever to attack you.

In the hospital, there are two things you have to see: the wheelchair obstacle course and the giant Eileen head in the wall.

Silent Hill 3

Category: Horror/Survival
Publisher: Konami
LPer: L0rdVega
My Game Rating: 3.6
Atmosphere:
The foggy world and dark areas don't seem to be improved on. Seems Konami is going with the old adage "if it's not broke then don't fix it".

The transitions from regular to nightmare world was a great touch. It certainly was a vast improvement over the previous technique of exiting one room in normal world and entering a new room in nightmare world.

Nightmare world still has that run-down and dark look with it's areas of blood (like the toilet in the nightmare mall; I would so hate to be the person who had to clean that!).

Background Music and Sounds:
Background music tends to be at a low level of volume. Sounds such as the radio static, footsteps, and monster noises easily sound over the music. That keeps with the isolated and alone theme.

The score is cool. Three of my favorite pieces are: the music when Heather finds Harry's body (adds to the sorrow factor); the music while she is exploring her apartment before leaving for Silent Hill; and the song played during the car ride to Silent Hill.

Puzzles and Paths:
It wouldn't be Silent Hill without......yup, you guessed it. Locked and/or jammed doors.

The pathways are definitely more convoluted. The path she takes from the mall to her house takes about as long as her route through Silent Hill does. Not sure why they did that. Maybe to give Heather a good source of information and practice before she hits Silent Hill?

Konami got creative with this game on puzzles. One key in the mall is under a pallet and can only be reached by using the tongs from the bakery. Then there is the hangar you need to pull down the ladder because Heather can't reach it normally.

New Features and Upgrades:
On certain puzzles where you have to use multiple items, the items appear in the bottom right corner so you don't have to go back into inventory.

The bulletproof vest was awesome. It reduces damage from attacks and I don't mean the bullet kind either.
Storyline:
Heather has a nightmare about an amusement park while napping at the mall. Upon waking, she phones her dad to let him know she's on her way home. As she starts to leave, a guy approaches her claiming to be a private detective hired to find her. To lose him, she goes through the bathroom window.

As she makes her way through the monster-filled mall, she meets Claudia, who sprouts nonsense about some "God" and Heather's True Self before leaving. At the exits of the mall, she runs into Douglas the P.I. again, who reveals Claudia hired him.

She leaves him at the mall and treks through several locations trying to get home. In a nightmare construction building, she meets Vincent. He acts just as crazy as Claudia, in fact even knows Claudia, and Heather believes him to be on her side.

When she gets home, she finds her father murdered in his chair in front of the T.V. She runs out onto the roof of her building to where she finds Claudia and a monster. Claudia tells her to meet her in Silent Hill and leaves Heather to fight the monster.

She re-enters her apartment to find Douglas waiting. Feeling guilty, he offers to help her get to Silent Hill. When she meets up with him outside, he says a guy named Vincent told him to find Leonard and also hands her Harry's journal.

On the way, Heather talks about what she read in Harry's journal, which is just a recap of the events of Silent Hill.

In Silent Hill, they split up. She goes to the hospital. She finds a video that brings back memories of Lisa Garland. She then finds Leonard, who turns out to be a monster. He attacks her, believing she is on Claudia's side. She defeats him and gets the seal he was protecting.

She returns to their motel room to find Vincent waiting on her. He says Douglas left a message for her to go to the church. Coming from Vincent, she shows a little doubt, but decides to head for the church anyways. First, though, she has to go through the amusement park.

She goes through a creepy haunted mansion section and soon finds Douglas wounded. They have a tense moment where he points a gun at her. He doesn't shoot and Heather continues on. She soon comes across a doppelganger of herself (maybe residual energy from Alessa bent on stopping her?) which she must defeat.

At the church, Heather meets up with Claudia once again. Claudia goes on again about "God", paradise, so forth. Heather reveals that she remembers her true self.. She also tells Claudia that she doesn't want the "God" to be born.

Claudia leaves while Heather is bent over in pain (girl can make a quick exit, can't she?). Heather starts exploring the church when she comes across a confessional box, where someone is asking for forgiveness. Heather has option to forgive or say nothing (this is something that affects the ending choice).

Exploring further brings her to a library where Vincent tries again to convince Heather he is on her side. She continues on, finding Alessa's hospital room then her room at her house. There she finds a tape of a conversation between Vincent and some woman, revealing the truth about him.

Finally Heather reaches the final room where she observes an exchange from Vincent and Claudia. Vincent wants them to die so the whole rebirth thing won't happen. Claudia believes him a traitor to their orders and kills him.

Heather pulls out the seal she got from Leonard and then learn it is worthless. Right after, the "God" tries to be born. Heather opens the locket her dad gave her to find Aglaphotis. She ingests it and it causes her to throw up the fetus. Claudia, panicking, swallows the fetus then births the "God". This kills Claudia.

Heather kills "God" like her father before her. She returns to the amusement park to find Douglas. She pretends to be possessed to pull a prank on Douglas. When Douglas calls her Heather, she tells him to call her by the name her father gave her (Cheryl) because she is not hiding anymore.

Protagonist:
Heather is definitely Harry Mason's daughter. She never wavers from her resolve, even when she learns things that would make a normal person have a mental breakdown.

She is so far the most logical protagonist in the series. The hanger to pull down the ladder she can't reach....the matress down the hole in the floor to cushion her drop...her ability to see things without the flashlight (unlike a previous protagonist who will remain nameless -_-).

She is my favorite Silent Hill character. She grows as the game progresses and seems the most real to me.
Other Characters:
Harry Mason
Harry is Heather's dad. If you have played or watched the first game, you know all about him and his adventures in Silent Hill.

His death is a true tragedy to the series but is understandable: Heather has to take this journey on her own.

Douglas
Douglas is a private investigator hired by Claudia to find Heather. He knows nothing about the reason behind the search thus making him a neutral figure caught up in the situation. As the story progresses, he begins to learn what is going on and is angered for being used.

He grows as a person, making him more real then most characters to date. You can't help but like him.

Claudia
Claudia belongs to the cult in Silent Hill. She wants to finish what Dahlia started. We learn that she and Alessa were like sisters growing up, explaining their connection. This connection is why she feels sorrow at what she must do to Heather to complete her task.

She is nuts, completely 100% out of her mind. The regret she displays may make her seem more human, but it doesn't subtract any of the crazieness to me.

Vincent
Vincent is a priest in the cult. However, unlike other members, he doesn't want the "God" born.

He is crazy in his own way. However, he is smart enough to know that if what is going on is the work of their "God" then something is seriously wrong with the picture.

Memorable Things For Me:
The BBQ dog in nightmare world's fast food restaurant.
Heather's first boss which is almost same as Harry's boss in the mall.
Heather's parting remark when she first meets Vincent.
Heather's remark about Leonard not really being a person.
The church map which is a child's drawing. BEST MAP EVER!
Heather's remark over Claudia's body about wanting to have killed her herself.
Heather kicking the final boss after she defeated it, just for good measure.

L0rdVega's Contribution:
He is awesome. He makes this experience in Silent Hill great. You really should check out his LPs.

One of my favorite parts was the carousal puzzle, where Heather has to kill the horses to move on to fighting the doppelganger.

Silent Hill 2

Category: Horror/Survival
Publisher: Konami
LPer: L0rdVega
My Game Rating: 2.9

We return to Silent Hill. However, this time we are going with James Sutherland. Personally, I really didn't care for this one as much as I did the first one. It does have it's moments.

Atmosphere:
Pretty much the same to me as was in Silent Hill. Doesn't seem to me they improved on it.

Normal Silent Hill is so foggy you can't see very far around you.

Otherworld Silent Hill is so dark the flashlight barely penetrates it.

The nightmare versions of places still has that rusty metal and bloody look.

Background Music and Sounds:
The music score is still good. Depending on the situation, it can be a soft and pretty (such as when James is talking about the letter he got) or it can be eerie and dark (such as while he is exploring).

The radio is back, giving off static whenever a monster is near. However, there is instance in game where it does more than just give off static. In the elevator with Maria, the game show Trick or Treat comes blaring out of the radio! While we are wondering what on earth is going on, apparentely Maria doesn't hear it!

Good old siren is heard again. It signifies the end of the first real encounter James has with Pyramid Head.

Puzzles and Paths:
The locked and/or jammed doors are back! Then again, it wouldn't be Silent Hill without them.

The puzzles follow true Silent Hill logic. They also require either solving a riddle, finding a key, or finding a code.

New Features and Upgrades:
You can now move the camera to view around you. In fact, this feature tended to drive Vega crazy as he had to constantly move the camera view to behind him so he could see what was ahead.

You get to choose your puzzle level now. Love this. Some people don't do well on puzzles so the chance to place it on easy makes the game enjoyable to them.

The monsters have gotten a make-over. Some are new; some are just upgraded versions of a previous monster. The bobble-head nurses are good example; their outfits reflect James's mental image (sexy clothes) instead of Alessa's mental image and thoughts about them.

Storyline:
James Sutherland gets a letter from his wife, Mary, saying she is waiting for him in their "special" place in Silent Hill. Only problem is, James's wife died three years ago from a disease. So off he goes to Silent Hill on a quest to find out the meaning behind the letter.

As his search progresses, he learns the truth: His wife didn't die three years previously from her disease. She was in the Silent Hill hospital up to a year ago because that is where she met Laura.

In the end, he learns that he had suffocated her with a pillow in their hotel room because he wanted to end her suffering. In the good ending, you get to hear the complete letter from Mary, which we heard the first part of at the beginning of the game.

Protagonist:
James is definitely no Harry Mason. The fridge he had to get Maria to help him open...well let's just say it was funny and disappointing at same time.

Also, until you get the flashlight, James can not see objects right in front of him. I can see them, you can see them....apparently we have much better night vision.

However, one cannot help but feel sorrow for James by the end of the game. The whole situation with Mary was a stressful one, for both Mary and him. He loved her and didn't want her to suffer anymore. When she asked to be relieved of her pain, he did what he felt he should.

Other Characters:
Along the way, he meets some interesting characters: Angela, Maria, Eddie, and Laura. We meet up with them several times throughout the game. Below is the main things I think are important.

Angela
Angela is first encountered in the graveyard outside of Silent Hill. She is looking for someone (if I remember correctly her mother). We learn as the game progresses that her father abused her severely.

James's last encounter with her is in the Hotel. She mistakes him for her mother (omg that was too funny) before she realizes the truth. She then informs James that the fire around them is what she sees in Silent Hill.
Laura
Laura appears numerous times around Silent Hill. For a short time, James is asked by Maria to find her and keep her safe from the monsters.

She is introduced in the apartment building when she kicks the key out of James's reach, steps on his hand, then laughs at him as she runs away. James sees her again, sitting on top of a brick fence, while he is heading towards the park.

She acts like a full-fledged brat. However, her attitude towards James stems from how she believes James feels about Mary. She met Mary a year before the game takes place in the hospital in Silent Hill.
Eddie
Eddie is next; we meet him over a toilet in an apartment building (can we just say Konami knows how to gross us out?). He acts weird, he is found in a suspicious situation, and James is an idiot for trusting him. In fact, a couple times we meet up with Eddie, there is a dead body nearby.

We learn as the game progresses:
1) He killed a dog and it's owner-the owner made fun of him all of the time
2) He believes James is laughing at him and needs to be punished
3) We are right; he is crazy.
Maria
Maria is the last one of the odd bunch. She is hanging out in the park when James searches there. James at first mistakes her for his wife. She does resemble his wife. However, she is more like his wife's slutty twin sister.

Maria also follows James around a bit. She can't defend herself; James has to defend her (which is part of what decides your ending). She does help you get into the bar though it is never explained how she has the keys to the bar.

If you count it, Maria dies four times by the end of the game. Three times if it is Mary you fight as the final boss instead of Maria.

The sub-scenario has you do a short run through Silent Hill as Maria.

L0rdVega's Contribution:

I absolutely love him. (I mean this the same way I love ice cream, Final Fantasy, and cats)

This was another blind run for him. If you don't believe it was, just watch the video where Pyramid Head is introduced. His reaction is utterly priceless.

Really, if you like LPs, you seriously need to watch his. Otherwise, I think you are missing out.

Silent Hill

Catagory: Horror/Survival

Publisher: Konami
Lper: L0rdVega

My Game Rating: 3.6

Silent Hill is considered one of the scariest video games. After watching it played, I have to agree.

Atmosphere:

In normal Silent Hill, you are surrounded by a thick fog that makes it hard to see much around you. In otherworld, Silent Hill, it is so dark that, at times, even the flashlight can't penetrate it. These visual devices create a sense of isolation and dread as you cannot see what is around you.

Background Music and Sounds:

The background music and sounds also add to the atmosphere. The siren is a wonderful touch-whenever you hear it, you automatically begin to dread what is going to happen. The radio static gives you a heads-up that something wicked is around, causing the gamer to start looking around for whatever the darkness or fog is hiding. The sounds that the enemies make are another sound device used to warn a player they are not alone.

Puzzles and Paths:

This game has numerous locked or jammed door. While this is really frustrating, it does create a direction you must go without coming out and saying "Hey go this way!". Locked doors mean you have to find a key or solve a puzzle; jammed doors limits where you have to explore to find things and also help save time.

C'mon, if you had to explore EVERY room in a place, you would be there forever!

The difficulty level on puzzles can be truly frustrating, depending on which puzzle it is. Most puzzles begin with a riddle posted that you have to read. Other times, you have to find a numeric code or key. The truly evil part is you never know where the items may be.

The most memorable puzzle to me is the school one. You have three separate puzzles you must solve to unlock the door in the courtyard.

Storyline:

Alessa is a young girl with strong psychic powers and who a secret cult in Silent Hill believes will birth their God. Alessa was burned badly when her mom set their house on fire and was admitted into the hospital for care. A magic spell keeps Alessa bound to her body and alive, despite how severe the burns are.

Alessa, using her body, splits her soul into two pieces. This creates a baby, whom Harry and his wife found and raised as their own. They named the baby Cheryl.

Seven years later, Alessa fears her mother and the cult will soon finish their ritual to bring God to life and calls out to her other half to return and help her stop them.

Where the game begins: Harry and Cheryl are on their way to vacation in Silent Hill when they get into a car accident. Harry awakes to find his daughter missing and thus begins a search through Silent Hill to find her.

Along the way, he picks up clues on what is really going on in Silent Hill and the truth of his daughter's birth.

Protagonist:

Harry Mason is an interesting fellow. His love for his daughter drives him through the entire game and gives him the will power to overcome all odds. Being a parent, this gives him big points with me for it makes him a believable character.

His trusting nature towards people he meets in Silent Hill and his calm demeanor towards his atmosphere is commendable. Frankly, I would be freaking out every once in a while if I was him. Plus, I would give the loons in Silent Hill a WIDE berth, say a whole room, while talking to them.

L0rdVega's Contribution:

Vega made my experience with Silent Hill absolutely wonderful.

He does the run blind, meaning he hasn't played it before and knows just as much as we do about the game.

Top 3 reasons I love viewing his videos:

1) His reactions are geniune.
2) His humor helps offset the atmosphere of the game.
3) He gets into the game.

Coug's Game Reviews

This blog is to give my opinion on video games I have played or I have watched someone else play on youtube.

These reviews are my opinion and thus for entertainment purposes only. I highly recommend checking out the games yourself.

If the game I am reviewing was one I watched on youtube, I will include which gamer I was watching. Be warned though: I watch LPs (Let's Plays) so there is audio commentary by the player. If this is not your cup of tea, then just search for another walkthrough of the game.

My rating system is different from others. The scale goes as follows:

4 - Perfect to me; wouldn't change a thing
3 - Great game but with a few minor things I didn't like
2 - Good game but needs a little improvement
1 - Okay game and would only recommend trying it out if bored
0 - Absolutely hated it and wouldn't recommend it

The decimal point shows where it falls in between two numbers.

For example, I rate a game 3.9. This means its almost perfect but there was one thing that bugged me on it. I still liked it and I am sure to recommend it; the thing that bugged me may not bug you.

Again this is for entertainment purposes only so I hope you enjoy. :)
